Fast Local EMR Survey Oops , " Fast Local PC Existence at The Local Clinics Survey “

Somehow , we fire-up the idea again to release a simple EMR software for the local clinics , ( already we were working on it 70% progress since 2002 , Long time , but with Med School , It Happens ) , so have to see the local market and the end users , and here it comes the surprise :

The Fast Survey includes over 59 Local Clinics , with variation of  specialties  ( i exclude the laps and radiology centers , cause it needs a special planning and attention )  , as well as doctors degrees ( Master , MD , PhD ( believe it or not some are Med School Professors  ).Where ? :  in some place in Egypt ( you know we are not a democratic country enough so i do not attend to lose my job YET ) , here is fast tips :

• Only 7 Clinics Have PCs .
• 4 With an Internet Connection .
• all uses Ms Windows as the official operating system . ( 3 without anti-virus protection , All Uses Ms. Office )
• 2 Clinics of those who have PCs , Have an EMR software .
• No Single Clinic uses an electronic scheduling tool appointments .
• Overlap of Appointments is common , when the doctor has irregular work time .
• Reporting , Usually using a template system Oops , Sorry not a template system , it’s somehow letter head alike ( name of the doctor , address , and contact details ) .
• Met only 19 Doctors , the rest either were busy enough , or did not attend to the work yet .
• The Most common Question they asked ( the 19th ) , ” why should I  get that Clinic software ? ” .
• The 2 EMRs Software running in the 2 ( Treasured Clinics ) , were made specially for these clinics , to fit with what the doctor Wants ! ( not what the doctors need ) .
• One of them Made officially , by it’s own user the Doctor , using fast knowledge gathering in fast speed programming training  course back to 8 years ago in Microsoft Visual Basic .

P.s :
-Almost all i met , just use a borderline user of the internet  , Except 4 of them who i can say , were good  users .
- i find it absurd to ask ” did you get the ICDL License ? ” .
- with some of work , they could use Ms.Office suite to do some needed stuff ” Scheduling appointments , Making a Templates , even registering a Patients , by creating a Database using Ms.Access” . But there aint any .
-Most of the secretaries and assistants , have no Computer backgrounds .

Special P.s : I Excluded 7 clinics , i managed to install some free open source EMR software for them years ago , cause they are quite exceptional to join the list .( as they got my help , support and know many Technical stuff as they manage to employ people with computer background ) .

Conclusion :
-Today They are not , Tomorrow they will be ,Correction “They Have To” : .
as am in contact with many doctors , many small younger ones than whom i included in this fast survey , they seems more aware , it’s more knowledgeable competition with us , the younger doctors , so they are trying to adapt more information about technologies , more using of the internet , getting a new portable computers  , and taking training courses in languages ( English : TOEFL ) and Computer Courses ( ICDL ) . but as they still young to be allowed to open their own clinics for now , i believe in years they would be a good users to Realize then adapt the need of using the computer for Medical practice , not just games .
