nationalize Patient’s Data and Fear of The know/unknown
“It’s Not about The Techniques More than the need “
AS am still searching , and gathering news articles about how to protect the Patient’s Privacy and securing the Data in this speedy spidy internet ,after as far as i go , i believe no matter the system is powerful the leakage, Misuse , stealing the data , wrong hands are still possible …never matter what was the Techniques those used …. we still got the main factor ” Human error ” , “Human greedy Thing “..
Facts , Theories and Examples :
Facts :
1-EMR s , EHR s which already built ( Special features , special specifications according to the needs ) and listed all over the country-ies … with the common shared feature ( Patient’s Profiles management )
2- Duplication of ME : every time we are running to clinic , hospital , even dentist … our profiles listed in their EMR s ……
Theories :
1-centralization and UN-centralization
Different EMR s , EHR s, which built for special specification for different hospitals , clinics , Research centers ……. and contain special different security tech. for protecting the patient’s profiles … those different security techniques . provide a protection against the mass leakage and mass cracking or let’s say it’s hard to crack other new system with different Security Techniques ( at least it needs time )….
2-all eggs in one bag ..?!!! (risk of centralization and risk of loosing the advantage of it)
as i see centralization itself could be target …. so far as the data are not centralized … we still far away from the mass data cracking….. but as the system components are separated already , we are loosing all the advantages of centralization ..?
3-Disasters … and Sudden ill informatively crisis :
to put a scenario and/or design a plane is not that easy or simple but what if especially if you can’t centralized your information center …. the plan is easy to setup and made … but the people who are victims of that Disaster / Crisis or accident needed to know sufficient data about them … such simple data such as allergy , current previous disease or accident could help …
Disease Control and Prevention :
(P.s That Cost me over 30 hours of search , Watching 11 movies about Pandemics and epidemics , looking over the history of AIDS , Hepatitis , Bird Flu… i can’t say i finished or can write what i thought here …. but Centralization the Patient’s Or People’s Health Details surly will help …. In Tracking Disease …. but surely if it’s connected with the meta and ground solid systems … ) Easy to Track the Disease if you know how he travels and who made contact with it … especially if it’s AIDS ..
Examples : ( Doctor , Cracker , Patient ) :
The Cracker :
Cracker stealing info about Patients …now if centralization is full functional , and well know as target for medical info crackers …. knowing the bugs , the techniques and how to deal with it …. Or there is some sort of Information Leakage ..it’ll be easy to pull the info he wants… ( Knowing the back doors is the best way ” Human Greedy ” )..
The Doctor :
In those fine days we took the history of the patient … sometimes the patient became resourceful …so we get full medical profile from him , rich of the labs , x-rays , etc..but what if the patient doesn’t have that .. or what if the Doctor requests that info .. by simple clicks …using the patient’s ID … i can say it would be cool and save time and lives …. ( sometimes the Patient’s History saves live )
P.s( My Friend is a great Psychiatrist , He Believes as a Doctor you have talk the History even you know everything about your patient )..
The Patient :
1-Patient is unconscious , any one know what’s he allergic for ? … that Q. is simply reveal why we need shared Patient’s Profile ….. that it could be shared all over the hospitals with your ID as a Doctor and exclude his profile under your Permission .
huh but Who is The Patient ? ( tattoo , smart card ,…. blah blah blah as Patient’s Health ID )
2-The Patient needs a Heart Replacement …etc , Yes there is this Program which connect the hospitals each other to submit and share their needs about the patients and the donors.. but what if with the Shared Centralized Patient’s Profile system that the hospital can get the data Quickly and save time contacting the patients …..etc
That’s Lead us to the real Questions :
Why the need for The National Patient’s Profile ?
What’s The advantages for the Centralization ?
