The Open source web browser , server side  based Hospital Information system . available free for downloads , for multi platforms . it has its online demo version , its featured rich , simple and usable .

Advantages :

  1. Free , Open source
  2. Multi plateform
  3. Sever side , web based , web browser interface .
  4. SSL ( Secure socket layer ) support .
  5. Multi data base support .
  6. Protect the users privacy .
  7. records secure .
  8. Supports HXP : health exchange protocol .

Disadvantages :

  1. Software administrations , is quite costs Server side applications .
  2. setting up and installation require some sort of experience .
  3. no tutorials or educational materials about usability .

Hospital OS :

Hospital OS , is a hospital management software aimed to support small and medium sized hospital in rural area hospitals in Thailand. its open source simple and usable , it supports multi plateforms , and include the most usable and needed features in hospital managements .

Its also a Client- Server software , which use the server unit to store the information . the server needed is : linux based with PostgradeSQL  for database .

Advantages :

  • Free and open source ,
  • Multi platforms . Java built ,
  • support the needed medical pratice models .

Disadvantages :

  • Aimed for small sized hospitals and rural areas at Thialand , so it might miss some features for large hospitals or modules requisted in other countries .
  • Download is free but you should Request it , however it’ll be available for download soon after the  translation is finished .
  • needs a linux server with PostgradeSQL .
  • The hospital should  has a responsible administrative person who can install Linux and knows SQL .

HospitalOS site .

HOSxP :

HOSxP is another Hospital Information Management system comes from Thialand , how ever this is widely spread and used in there , it built on Delphi-Kylix and supports many different types of Databases MsSQL , MySQL , Oracle , PostgradeSQL ( psqql ) . however it looks great , and simple to use , but to much files to download and not that documented at all , the web site is in Thia , how ever the downloaded packages aviabale at the site and source forge .

Advantages :

  • Client-Server System ,
  • Has the basic necessary modules for hospital management ,
  • Run on many platforms ( linux port , windows ports )
  • supports many data base types : MsSQL , MySQL , PostgradeSQL and Oracle
  • has an extra module of Blood bank

So far thats was for Hospital Information Management Software , with a good set to run a hospital , with low cost as possible .

There are also  different usable set modules to be use in a hospital as ( notice i didn’t test them but they got good users rating at sourceforge ) :

HRCS :

HRCS (Hospital romm control system) is a system for remote operator monitoring of hospital rooms. HRCS supports serial or TCP/IP communication. HRCS is based on the linux kernel and is the only one process running in the OS.

Open Hospital :

Open Hospital – Hospital Information System for Angal – Uganda. Patient management, pharmacy, laboratory, pregnancy and malnutrition control management. Developed by Informatici Senza Frontiere

Clinical Handover Database :

Database for hospital doctors and nurses to keep track of their patients. The database will be of use in the advent of hospital at night, weekend handovers and produces ’sign-out sheets’ for all of your patients.
