NeuroML : Open source Model Descriptions for Computational Neuroscience
Share on Facebook
NeuroML is an XML-based description language for defining and exchanging neuronal cell, network and modeling data including reconstructions of cell anatomy, membrane physiology, electrophysiological data, network connectivity, and model specification .
Aims of NeuroML as mentioned on NeuroML website :
- To create specifications for a language in XML to describe the biophysics, anatomy and network architecture of neuronal systems at multiple scales
- To facilitate the exchange of complex neuronal models between researchers, allowing for greater transparency and accessibility of models
- To promote software tools which support NeuroML and support the development of new software and databases
- To encourage researchers with models within the scope of NeuroML to exchange and publish their models in this format.
Licensed under LGPL
In NeuroML , developers make a list of the supported tools which can generate , interact with NeuroML , as well as they list many free models , user can download and learn , including list of Examples for users simulating several physiological , anatomical and neurological structures .
NeuroML is well documented for users and developers who are willing to contribute to this project . including also how to use and generate NeuroML .
Validator is an online tool to validate the XML file of NeuroML
