Please : don’t widen the gap between health informatics people and health care systems users .

I am attending now to Healthcare quality management diploma , yesterday was quite simple seminar about Hospital Information system , however , the instructor fails to convince me that HL7 is different topic than Health Information system . and Our attender don’t know HL7 and include it in HIS ( health information system cause its more technical more than summary for users ) .

However , i don’t know how come , there is too much different what the user of hospital management system user know and basic concept on what the professionals define .

The main question is : do we really to define the same term in 2 different concepts regarding , the Need to know basics ?!

Still when i refer to HL7 , the instructor insist , that its totally different topic and different term definitions between HIS and HL7 .

No it is not : HL7 founded in 1987 to produce a standard for hospital information systems ( Hl7 at wikipedia )

The Questions :

How much widen you’ll make the gap between health informatics teams at the running Hospitals and the User of the eHIS cause . ?

So Do they really needs different explanation and definitions  for  terms ?

The claim about these are not professionals , never declare that they need different terms and concepts , than the professionals .

This topic remind me that some sort of a company at Sudia Arabia 7 years ago produced 3 health care related software , : HIS , EMR , and Labs Management system , however when i attend to their marketing seminar i notice , the producers declare their own standards , and concepts . however their solutions were the main acceptable and usable among others .

Do The health care users , and administrator  realize they need the standards in their solutions .

Too much different between what the client wants , and what the client needs , and i suggest in such sensitive topic as health care information industry you should stick to standards .

what make me really confused that the instructor re-define Informatics and split it from the main topic , as well as declare that as the main cause of ” same term , different concepts “
